Literature Text

A home is sought, a place of refuge
To lay down this heavy burden
Surrounded by this concrete jungle
But seldom spoken are the prisons found
Being surrounded by these bricks of concrete
No place to rest, no comfort found

Air is scarce, need to breathe
But there is no time for breath
Push on, push on, keep going
There is little time to rest

There is no comfort found, all alone
A secret that brings out blood
Pouring out in silence in this concrete jungle
To make a sound is to call upon death
No calm to ease the growing strain
Shivering and trembling, hiding in the dark

Need to breathe, is there air?
But there is no time for breath
Can I push on, can I keep going?
There is little time to rest

Sin brought to life, loss of innocence
As darkness stains the ground
A lost generation in this concrete jungle
The caress of innocence is ever fleeting
The warmth there only for a moment
Brought into this world, then torn away

I can't breathe, the air was stolen
There was never time for breath
No way to push on, can't keep going
My time to rest is gone

These shadows form, come and go
Some darker and only grow darker
Enveloped by this concrete jungle
Will there be any outcry for this day?
Any care given for this innocence lost?
A hidden grave lies here, will no one visit?

I can't breathe, the air was stolen
Only tears in place of breath
No way to push on, can't keep going
My time to live is gone
A poem to express and relieve some anguish and grief...written almost two weeks ago.
